We all have heard of the saying ‘art imitates life.’ But what if life decided to imitate art? Or rather, if life tried to blend itself with art?
Mio Hashimoto found herself pondering as she observed her pet dog Tsuki and his latest stunt. Hashimoto was a talented wood sculptor whose carvings of life-sized animals took on a realistic quality. Tsuki always accompanied his owner as she worked in her workshop, often helping out by being her muse and reference point for dog sculptures.
Among the shavings and various sculptures in the studio, Tsuki thought of a brilliant idea on how to play a trick on his owner. He pretended to be one of the dog statues that were displayed on a wooden crate. Luckily, there was an open spot in between two sculpture dogs that looked just like him.
It was the perfect prank.
Hashimoto captured the entire thing on video. Tsuki hadn’t moved a muscle, matching the statues that surrounded him. However, the dog soon grew tired and impatient with imitating the lifeless figures that he slowly changed his poses.
He slowly got down from the crate, gave a big stretch by the side, and settled on his back, just like the other lifelike sculptures on the floor. It was evident where Hashimoto took her inspiration from, with Tsuki and a similar statue striking the very same pose.
This dog loved hanging out in the workshop, exploring, and inspecting his owner’s artwork with interest. He stared at the finished products intently, probably checking for weak spots Hashimoto missed. This playful pup also loved rolling on the floor, covering his fur with dust and wood shavings.
The videos earned over six million views and thousands of likes. It was safe to say that Tsuki captured the attention, as well as the hearts, of the online community. Combining this dog’s charming personality with the beauty of this artist’s work was pure genius.
