For dogs, urinating is more than just excreting impurities from their body. They also use it to mark an area by leaving their scent in places where other dogs can smell them. Marking also helps them ease anxiety as it gives them a sense of familiarity by associating their scent with an unfamiliar area.
However, because of their limited knowledge, they are unable to tell things apart as we humans can. For example, fences all look similar to a dog, but to us, there are many different kinds of fences, as the dog in this video is about to find out.
Two dogs and their owner were out for a walk one day when one of the dogs decided to mark the area with his scent. The dog was careful about where to put his scent to alert other dogs of his presence.
He begins to sniff around and finally decided to do it on a fence. Little did the poor dog know that there was more to the fence than meets the eye. It was an electric fence meant to deter animals and humans alike from entering.
The dog’s owner could have stopped the dog from making a stunning mistake, but he chose to make the dog learn on his own. Moments later, the dog begins to get in position and raises his rear leg before releasing a stream into the fence.
The dog jumps in surprise as he gets shocked by the fence; with a whine and a shriek, the dog runs to his owner’s side after having been stunned unknowingly. Fortunately, the dog was not harmed during the shocking encounter and was filmed looking back at the fence, seemingly confused as to what happened.
The dog’s owner giggles behind the camera as he asks the dog what happened. In turn, the dog could only watch on, never knowing who or what buzzed him during one of nature’s calls. Be careful next time, Mr. Doggo.
