Melissa Hughes runs a senior dog rescue known as the Old Dog Home. Melissa ensures that the senior dogs receive love and support and the needed patience for the dogs’ age. Melissa understands that when dogs age older, they will face new challenges in life.
But despite these challenges, Melissa knows that these senior dogs are not any less of loving and worthy companions. However, the real world is harsh towards old dogs because they are vulnerable to several kinds of abuse. Most of the time, senior dogs are abandoned because they are already deemed useless by their former owners.
This was what happened to Holly, a senior dog who was scheduled for euthanasia because of old age. Fortunately, when the day of the dog’s euthanasia came, someone informed Melissa about the dog’s ordeal. Upon learning this development, Melissa immediately called the center where the dog would be euthanized and told them to delay the execution.
After that, Melissa went to the center and spoke with the people there, saying she is willing to take the dog for good. The woman introduced herself as the founder of the Old Dog Home, and she caters specifically to old dogs.
With this narrative, Melissa was able to save Holly’s life. Before leaving the center, Melissa asked the people there how Holly made her way there. From there, Melissa heard the heartbreaking news that it was the dog’s former family who sent her there.
According to the center’s staff, Holly’s previous family found the dog’s old age a disadvantage. This is because, for them, Holly is already useless and is a burden for them. Upon hearing this, Melissa assured Holly that everything would be okay. The woman likewise promised the dog that she would receive the kind of life she deserves.
