Rescuers often form bonds with the dogs they rescued. That’s why when the time comes for these dogs to be adopted, the feeling is bittersweet. However, on rare occasions, the rescuer gets the chance to adopt one of the dogs they rescued.
A woman named Kelly Kiesling from New York traveled to New Orleans to meet a specific dog. She went to the Villalobos Rescue Center to adopt a dog that she rescued a few months prior. The owner of the center, Tia Torres, knew Kelly because she had worked with her in the past.
When Kelly worked at the VRC, she met a dog named Mittens. She became enamored with this dog and wanted to adopt him. She was supposed to come with her boyfriend to adopt Mittens together, but they broke up.
Kelly decided to come on her own and continue with her plan. She believes that Mittens has taught her more about love and loyalty than any other person has. He’ll become like her better half.
Before Kelly could officially adopt Mittens, her home needed to be inspected by the shelter employees. She prepared a lot of gifts for mittens. There was a bed, some snacks, and even a hat for him.
What the employees needed to inspect the most was Kelly’s backyard. Fortunately, her backyard was very spacious and was surrounded by tall fences. Mittens would have a good time playing there.
After the inspection, Mittens was finally ready to meet Kelly. The dog could not contain his excitement. Kelly’s efforts preparing for the adoption paid off. The reunion was just as Kelly imagined.
Mitten’s couldn’t come into Kelly’s life at a better time. She needed him at that point because she was going through hard times. With Mittens by her side, she could overcome all her problems.
