Abdul Israili took Milo, a Staffy Blue Heeler cross, for a walk in a park in Melbourne, Australia. While they were walking, they found an injured Galah, a pink and gray cockatoo. Abdul brought the injured bird home to his daughter Charlotte.
Charlotte named the bird Cracker and nursed him back to health. She put him in a cage. Milo stayed close and kept watch over Cracker the whole day.
When Cracker’s wing had healed, they took him out of the cage because they wanted him to be free. However, Cracker stayed.
Charlotte noticed that Cracker had started interacting with Milo. He would go to the bottom of his cage to greet him. Milo would try to kiss him through the bars. When Cracker went out of his cage, Milo excitedly followed him around the living room.
From that day on, their friendship blossomed. They loved each other’s company. Milo would try to cuddle Cracker when he was out of his cage. It looked as if he was squashing the bird.
Charlotte thought that Cracker might get hurt, and she wanted to intervene. However, Cracker did not seem to mind. He even wanted to get as close as possible to Milo that he followed him wherever he went.
One day, Cracker decided to fly off. It was a bittersweet moment. They wanted him to be free, but they had treated him as part of the family. Milo missed him terribly. He would cry whenever he saw the empty cage.
After two weeks, Charlotte saw a Facebook post that said someone had found a Galah not far from where they live. She did not really want to get her hopes up since Galahs were common in Australia. However, she took a chance and brought him home.
When Milo and Cracker were reunited, they recognized each other at once. Charlotte could not believe what she was witnessing.
Milo was so pleased to have his friend back that he could not help but smile from ear to ear. They were constantly together, and Cracker never attempted to fly off and leave his best friend again.
