For Jewish people, Bar Mitzvah is an important celebration. During this event, boys and girls aged 12 to 13 are welcomed into adulthood. With that, they are expected to be responsible for their own deeds and uphold their Jewish beliefs.
Apparently, dogs can celebrate Bar Mitzvah, too! A 13-year-old senior dog named Rambo has received this coming-of-age celebration from his fur parents named Craig and Ruth Ellenberg. And his party is so darn cute!
Rambo’s bar mitzvah
The couple planned Rambo’s rite of passage for the 39th annual celebration of Craig’s very own Bar Mitzvah. Craig and Ruth extended the pooch’s Bar Mitzvah over two days to make sure that their family members could attend the gathering.
On the first day of the bar, Craig and Ruth read the prayers over the challah and some candles. There was even a traditional candle-lighting ceremony. Rambo was adorned with a puppy-sized tallit and kippah. The 13-year-old Havanese pooch also enjoyed a peanut butter cake made with pup-safe ingredients.
The party seemed to be perfect for Rambo, as he was an attention-loving pup. His favorite part of the rite was licking the icing from his peanut butter cake.
According to Ruth, Rambo did not initially enjoy the kippah around his head. But eventually, he got used to the clothing.
Ruth added that celebrating the family dog with some Jewish traditions allowed all of them to step away from the stress of life.
Rambo as a spoiled prince
Ruth shared that Rambo was like a spoiled prince even before his rite of passage was celebrated. But after his very own bar, the dog started acting even more spoiled. But this is nothing to the Ellenberg family since they consider Rambo as their very own child.
Because Rambo loves being the center of attention, he is always invited to different celebrations. He even attends birthday families and various holiday parties. And he never attends these functions without wearing special outfits!
