Have you ever really noticed that your dog has a favorite toy? It could be anything, from that plushie to the rubber ball that they’ve been chasing around. If their toy gets broken, chances are that they may feel some kind of distress and even sadness.
Some dog parents, fortunately, will not throw the broken toy right away. They have this resolve to fix it.
One pit bull named Jamaica should be proud that her grandmom was one of those parents. And while her grandmom was fixing her toy, she stayed throughout the process; it was as if she was waiting for the surgery to be done.
Jamaica and her toy
Jamaica had a soft spot for soft items, such as plushies. But there was one particular item that she would always associate herself with – an octopus chew toy. Ana Maria Peñas del Aguila, the woman who rescued Jamaica when she was still a puppy, said that the toy was given to her by her mom.
However, all the attention the pit bull had given the toy came with a lot of consequences. It didn’t take long before the chew toy started showing signs of wear and tear. One day, one of the octopus’ tentacles gave up.
What happened had devastated Jamaica.
Jamaica, the patient pittie
Thankfully, Ana’s mother came to Jamaica’s rescue. She stepped in and performed emergency surgery on the octopus, so Jamaica would be happy once again.
While Ana’s mom was fixing the toy, Jamaica didn’t leave her side. She wanted to make sure that her toy was in good hands.
In the end, Ana revealed that this wasn’t a one-time thing. The toy had needed surgery three or four times. And each time it was being put back together, Jamaica would wait patiently until she got the toy back.
One day, Jamaica’s toy may give up entirely. But until then, Ana’s mom might be performing those surgeries on the octopus just to keep the dog’s spirits up.
