A quick-thinking hotel manager from Greenville, South Carolina managed to save a small pup’s life, thanks to his fast action. It would have been a gruesome elevator accident had he not been in the right place and the right time. It was all caught on camera, and people are now hailing him as a hero.
Adrenaline rush
The said manager is a man named Ben Duke, and he works at the Roadway Inn. It all started like any other regular day for him, he said. He was just at the storage room, right in front of the elevators, when one of the hotel guests was going inside the lift. Following him was his leashed dog.
Just before the elevator doors closed, his pet wandered out, and he didn’t realize it. Ben saw that dog’s leash was being pulled upwards as the elevator ascended. He knew right away that the results would be deadly.
He quickly sprang into action and grabbed the leash. He tried removing the clasp from the dog’s collar, but he was fumbling, and there was no time left. The dog was getting pulled upwards, so Ben grabbed the pup’s body.
With adrenaline rushing in, he pulled with all his strength, and the leash broke.
The scared dog started struggling, and he scratched Ben’s face.
He set the dog down, who then scurried away.
Boo Boo
A few moments later, the dog’s owner came down, and he was crying. He was fully expecting that his pet, Boo Boo, has perished. When he learned that Ben was able to save his pooch, he was so grateful and relieved, then gave the manager a long hug.
The dog owner was a regular guest, and Ben was just happy to have made a difference that day. He said that he just reacted as he was supposed to.
Boo Boo suffered a swollen neck the next day but quickly recovered from it.
