Shortcake was a former street dog that has never stopped smiling since she found her forever home. She is so appreciative of her life now and has so many reasons to smile about.
Shortcake was adopted by Amy Matsushima who lives in Los Angeles and works for a creative agency. She brings the dog with her to work and her colleagues love the happy pooch so much. She is so adorable that she has been made the unofficial mascot of their company.
But her life wasn’t always that sweet.
Miserable life
Shortcake was leading a miserable existence when she was rescued and brought to a local shelter. She was homeless and suffered from a hernia and severe mange. Because of her condition, no one wanted to adopt her. This put the poor pooch on the list of dogs to be put to sleep.
Her time was almost up when a non-profit rescue organization called Fresno Bully Rescue learned about her situation and pulled her out of the shelter. Although they didn’t have the resources or the space to take her in, they just couldn’t allow her to be euthanized.
Luckily, they got in touch with Amy who agreed to foster him. She drove from L.A. to Fresno to pick up the dog. When they met, Shortcake wasn’t in her best shape. Her mange was so bad that she was basically hairless and she smelled like rotting flesh.
But with the persistent care and patience of Amy and her family, Shortcake recovered quickly. And as her physical condition got better, so did her mental and emotional health.
What was once a sad and miserable-looking dog, transformed into a beautiful and sociable pup. She became so adorable and loving that Amy decided to officially adopt her.
Winning smile
To share Shortcake’s progress with the folks from the Fresno Bully Rescue, Amy started an Instagram account for the dog. She posted lots of pictures of the happy pup, and soon, her followers started growing.
Her fun personality and winning smile have resulted in more than 185,000 followers. She looks so sweet and genuine that people can’t get enough of her.
