Hachikō’s story speaks volumes about how loving and faithful dogs can be. The Japanese Akita would go to the train station with his owner and patiently wait until he would come home from work. This routine didn’t end even when his human passed away.
Every single day, people at the station would see Hachikō waiting for his fur dad. This went on for nine years until the time for him to cross the rainbow bridge and be reunited with his human finally came. He died on his 11th year here on earth.
Like Hachikō, other dogs have also proven their loyalty to their fur parents. Among these is Ping An, a Golden Retriever from Qidong, Jiangsu.
The 62-mile Journey Home
It all started when the one-year-old’s humans took her to their friend’s house in Nantong. It was a two-hour drive from the Golden Retriever’s home. Their house was undergoing renovations at the time. Her fur parents deemed it best to let her stay at their friend’s house so she wouldn’t be overwhelmed with all the noise.
Things were going well until she got homesick. After deciding that she was sick and tired of waiting, Ping An left and made her way home. Little did she know that her owners had taken her to a house that was 62 miles away. She was dead set on being reunited with her family; the distance was a non-issue for her.
A much-awaited reunion
Ping An’s journey home lasted for 14 days. A rescue group found her at an office building. All that walking took a toll on her body: she was limping, her body lacked nourishment, and all of her paws were bleeding.
Fortunately, the rescuers managed to track down her family. They rushed down to where she was and brought her home.
