Some studies show that dogs really do get jealous. When a new member of the family comes in, they may experience some kind of anxiety out of fear that their parents will not pay attention to them anymore.
But a dog named Tommy is quite different. He has always been loyal to his parents. But when a baby came to the household, he didn’t get jealous. He even showed the baby a heartwarming gesture.
Tommy and the baby
Nick Elliot and his lovely wife recently brought home a healthy baby girl named Macie. The couple was excited to introduce the newborn baby to their Doberman Pinscher.
The couple hoped that Tommy would also be loyal and loving towards the family’s newest member. And their expectations were met when Tommy’s first meeting with Macie went well.
When Macie arrived, Nick had the dog smell the baby’s worn clothes. And just like that, Tommy instantly accepted the baby.
It seemed, though, that Tommy was a naturally kind dog towards toddlers. Nick said that his family used to have the dog mingle with toddlers and children. Tommy would even lie down with the kids, allowing them to play with him.
Tommy obviously loves Macie
What Nick and his wife didn’t expect was that Tommy also wanted to take care of Macie! He was sensitive to the baby’s emotions, and he would always cheer her up whenever there was a chance.
Once, Macie was crying for food. At this point, the adorable dog decided to take things into his own paws. Macie’s mom went to the kitchen to make a new bottle of milk. But when she came back, she saw Tommy comforting the baby in the best way that he knew – by giving Macie his favorite toy, a teddy bear.
Nick and his wife were surprised by what they witnessed. But surely, they were more than happy, knowing that Macie had a big brother to lean on.
