A German Shepherd who lived in the city of Tolyatti in Russia is a legendary figure for their residents. He is their symbol and inspiration for love and devotion. His story became so popular and he is so beloved that a bronze statue was erected in his memory.
This is because of his faithfulness to his owners.
Car crash
The loyal dog’s story started when residents of Tolyatti started noticing him staying near the highway. He never left the area and would either be lying down or running back and forth chasing cars. He doesn’t go to the middle of the road, but would just run along by the side.
As time passed, the word spread across the city about this dog that was always in the same place. People got curious about the pup, so they started asking around for information,
They learned that the dog was owned by a couple who got in a car crash in that area. The woman was killed immediately, while the man was taken to a hospital. He perished hours later.
The dog survived, but no one took him in. He just stayed in the area not knowing what happened to his owners. Every day, he would wait there by the road and he would even run by the side of the cars, trying to look inside and see if his owners were there.
The residents took pity on him and would give him food and water. Some even built him doghouses. There were also others that tried to adopt him or put him in a shelter. But he always escapes and goes back to the area.
For seven years, the dog faithfully stayed in his post. Then one day, he went missing. For days, the people wondered where he went.
Until one man found him inside the nearby forest. People say that he knew that his time was coming up, so he went inside to finally get his rest.
It was a sad ending for the dog but he became an inspiration for a lot of people.
