During a trip to California, Jeff and Joy Farmer fell in love when they saw the gorgeous black Labrador Cali in a kill shelter. The kind couple knew the dog had great potential, so they officially adopted her.
Change of plans
Cali was scheduled for euthanization the next week, so the couple knew they needed to act fast. They noticed the despair in the poor pup’s face and arranged to transport her to their home in Vegas.
Jeff and Joy intended to get Cali home as quickly as possible, but they couldn’t bring her with them. They hired a driver to take her to Kentucky to meet the dog halfway, but things didn’t go as expected.
Unfortunately, Cali managed to escape the driver from the transporting business. The couple was dismayed but was determined to find their new family member quickly.
Jeff and Joy hurriedly made Facebook posts about their missing dog. Many supporters shared the posts and helped keep a close eye out for Cali. The Las Vegas Trapping Girls rescue organization saw the viral posts and reached out to assist the family in finding the dog as quickly and efficiently as possible.
OnceCali got caught, Jeff was instantly notified by the Trapping Girls. The couple was relieved to learn that their adorable rescue puppy was safe.
Road trip
Jeff and Joy needed to make sure Cali’s travel home went smoothly this time. As a result, Jeff opted to pick her up himself. He boarded the next flight to Vegas and rented a car to drive him and Cali home. The couple knew it’d be a long journey from Nevada to Kentucky, but Cali was worth it.
Cali is safe and secured in her new residence. It took a bit of time for her to adjust to the environment fully, but she seemed safer and happier with her loving parents.
