Stray dogs rely on food scraps to feed themselves. Because these animals have no family to feed them or care for them, they tend to scavenge for food to survive. It’s a difficult life for these dogs, and sometimes, it could get them in trouble.
In a neighborhood in Texas, residents happened to spot a stray dog, who was later named Pickle, that had a huge plastic jar stuck on his head. Concerned by what they saw, they contacted animal control right away to help. With a jar stuck on his head, he wouldn’t be able to eat or even drink.
Pickle was understandably terrified and would run away whenever someone got close to him. Thankfully, animal control officers responded and immediately began their search for Pickle. After spotting him wandering around a wooded part of town, they immediately went into action to catch Pickle. They needed to be creative to catch Pickle to help him get out of his predicament.
The animal control officers needed to sneak up on Pickle and catch him. The officers snuck up from behind Pickle and were able to capture him with a catchpole. Pickle was startled at first but the animal control officers did a great job calming him down.
As soon as Pickle was on the ground, the animal control officers started to work on getting the plastic jar off his head. After a few minutes of struggling, they were finally able to get the jar off his head. The plastic jar was the type used to hold cheese balls and Pickle was probably starving that he was tempted to stick his head inside the jar and lick the remains of the tasty snack.
Pickle was eventually taken back to the animal shelter. Vets found that he was extremely dehydrated and estimated that he probably hasn’t had any food or water for three days. He was still terrified at the shelter but the staff and volunteers at the shelter showered him with a lot of love. Pickle soon realized that he’s finally in a safe place.
Sure enough, Pickle started to feel more comfortable after a few days. He’s getting spoiled with lots of treats and love from the people around him and he’s rapidly recovering. Pickle is not aggressive at all. He’s very sweet and loves spending time with people. After he recovers, he will become available for adoption and find his forever home.
