Some rescue dogs find it easy to look for their new families. However, some dogs would take a while to have a taste of family life.
Drools, a 4-year-old boxer and pit bull mix, is no stranger to this narrative. The dog has already spent 722 days at the Conour Animal Shelter in Monte Vista, Colorado.
According to the volunteers of the animal shelter, Drools is an exceptional dog. Unlike other dogs in the shelter, it is easy to get along with the dog because of his kind demeanor and lively personality. But most of the time, Drools is overlooked because of his breed.
Despite this, the volunteers are still upbeat and confident that someone would finally gamble in taking the dog for good. In his record, Drools arrived at the shelter in 2018 after his former owners surrendered him for reasons still unknown.
Since then, the dog has already built a great rapport with the volunteers of the animal shelter. From time to time, the volunteers would take the dog for a walk outside the shelter, so Drools will not be bored. The volunteers would likewise play with the dog when their time permits.
With this kind of positivity that Drools radiates, it is still a mystery for the volunteers why he has not been adopted yet. When Kacey Widetich heard about the dog’s dilemma, she stepped in to help. Kacey works with Relay for Rescue, an organization helping animal shelters find potential adopters for their long-time residents.
According to Kacey, her group has already helped so many dogs in the past. This is why she is confident that someone will be able to appreciate Drools the way the volunteers at the animal shelter do. It would take time, but Kacey knows that Drools will find the perfect family the soonest possible time.
