Small dogs have a unique appeal. They are perfect for people who don’t want to keep up with the energy of a large and athletic dog. However, some of them require more care compared to other dogs.
This story explains the level of care needed for a tiny dog found on the street.
A chihuahua named DJ met her foster parent on the street. Britnie, the woman who found him, was going to the vet with her other dogs at that time. It was fortunate that she spotted him and brought him with her. That was the beginning of DJ’s new life.
The small dog was scared and confused. In order to keep him calm, Britnie put him in a pouch. She wore her sweater backward, so her hood was in the front, and the hood acted as the pouch.
Britnie was not sure if DJ would warm up to her completely. Fortunately, by the 2nd day of his stay, he started to feel more confident. Britnie increased her efforts to care for the tiny dog from that point on.
Britnie’s friend, Brooke, contacted her one day, asking if she could meet the dog. Brooke wasn’t much of a dog lover, but she instantly felt a connection with DJ. She adopted him soon after that meeting.
The small dog was quick to trust Brooke. However, he didn’t trust his surroundings. To solve his trust issues, Brooke often took him out for walks. Like Britnie, Brooke also kept DJ inside a pouch close to her, sometimes even when they were outside.
DJ learned to trust more when he met a bunny, which was one of Brooke’s pets. That was the first time he became attached to another animal. From that point forward, DJ learned to socialize with other dogs and people as well.
