Dogs are extremely loyal to a fault. Sometimes this loyalty means that they would only follow one person and no one else. Dogs like that become hard to take care of if their owners suddenly pass away or disappear. San is one such dog, and this is his story.
If there’s one person that San loves the most is his owner, sometimes referred to as his grandpa. Unfortunately, his owner is no longer around due to cancer. San doesn’t know that and continues to sit at the front gate, waiting for his return.
The person taking care of San is his owner’s wife, his grandma. According to her, whenever she sees San waiting for her deceased husband, it pains her heart. Furthermore, the dog refuses to follow her when he’s so focused on waiting at the gate.
San’s display of loyalty has proven troublesome for the grandma. She noticed that the dog had some sort of skin disease that went untreated. Since San won’t listen to her, it’s hard to take him to a veterinarian. She’s also not physically capable of dragging him or carrying him.
One day some volunteers helped the grandma transport San to a veterinary clinic. There the vet diagnosed him with a skin infection caused by a fungus. San’s condition can turn critical if not treated immediately. Fortunately, it was a condition that’s very treatable with medicine.
The grandma accompanied San while he was given a medical bath. She was grateful to the vets and everyone else that helped her. Since that day, she continued following the vet’s advice on how to treat San.
The grandma regularly feeds San with homemade food laced with medicine. She likes to give him lots of pats on the face. If she continues to do what she does, San would soon be rid of his skin disease. His habit of waiting at the gate, however, is there to stay.
